Amid the surge in loan demand at the end of the year, many individuals are impersonating bank employees and posting “quick disbursement” offers on social media to defraud the public.

As the year draws to a close, many people seek loans for business, production, or personal consumption. Exploiting the desire for quick loans and convenient procedures, fraudsters impersonate employees of banks or finance companies on social media, advertising loan assistance and rapid disbursement to scam people and misappropriate their assets.
Their modus operandi involves posing as bank or finance company staff and posting advertisements on Facebook offering loan assistance and quick disbursement. When interested individuals reach out, the scammers instruct them to connect via Zalo and submit photos of required documents—such as household registration books and ID cards—to process the loan application.
Once they have the necessary information, the scammers create fake loan contracts and send them to the victims, demanding the payment of fees before the loan can be disbursed. Due to a lack of awareness, many people fall into the trap and transfer the money. After receiving the funds, the scammers cut off all contact with the victims.
The Hanoi City Police urge the public to be vigilant regarding advertisements for quick, easy loans with same-day disbursement found on websites and social media platforms. Offers promising streamlined procedures—requiring only a guarantee fee for disbursement—may well be scams. Those in need of a loan should conduct thorough research and visit the headquarters or branches of reputable banks or finance companies directly to receive professional advice and guidance on proper procedures, thereby protecting their legal rights.
